I think if a person could add up his or her daily e-periods and deduct the total from 24 hours, the individual will see how many hours could be saved for doing other things.
The truth is, rather than taming our e-periods (i.e. the periods of time we use for sending/reading emails, facebooking, tweeting, chatting, googling etc.) as time savers, they helplessly eat up our days. Yet, doing without them daily could be disastrous!
There is, therefore, a dilemma.
If you have been banging your head on the wall about seeing absolutely nothing done or gained after spending long e-periods, this dilemma concerns you.
If your efforts to curtail undue expense of hours online (and offline) still produce little or no result, this dilemma also concerns you.

I once heard that teachers are attributing to the high rate of failure to one thing, the internet – facebook, twitter, linkedin… etc. While the internet is cool, it could turn out to be your great enemy and like you rightly said it eats up our time so quickly that we end up achieve little or nothing in a day!
