In 2003 I got a hot job with Globacom, Nigeria’s second national operator (SNO) and resigned in 2007 to begin an entrepreneurial journey that has been both fun and challenging – I call entrepreneurship the ultimate learning experience for anyboody. My goal in this article is to share with you some of the principles and strategies, I applied back then to get the hot job. I am not 100% sure it will work for you today but I believe you can learn a thing or two and like everything else in life, innovate and launch out in search of your hot job.

I usually advice jobseekers to start a business while looking for a job that way they can keep their minds busy rather than stay ideal hoping and dreaming that one day “e go better” (Nigerian version of it’s gonna be alright). The next challenge comes up where will I get capital? If this is your challenge, then you may consider joining a good network marketing company where you can start a business of your own with next to nothing. If you ask me, then I recommend you take a closer look at Natureline Solutions or any other good MLM company of your choice. Here are 4 principles I applied when I wanted a hot job with Globacom Nigeria;

1. I knew what I wanted
2. I took action
3. I networked
4. I asked for help

2. Take action after making that decision
3. Network with people
4. Ask others for help

So I ask you now, if you desire a hot job today, then the question is what are you doing towards achieving that?

Do you know why I am telling this story? It’s because I was once in your situation (if you are currently unemployed) but all that changed after reading Anthony Robbin’s Awaken the Giant – I took massive action and got a hot job in less than a month.

Details of how I got the hot job with Globacom Nigeria

In 2002, I graduated from the University of Ado-Ekiti, I came out tops in my Sociology class and was called-up immediately for the mandatory 1 year of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), I served at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), during my NYSC days, I decided exactly what I wanted and made up my mind on it – what I wanted was to work in the then newly established company called  Globacom, now one of the fastest growing telecommunications company in the world. After making that decision I took action – this is the point humans fail to work on.

Long before I got the job, I started confessing it. Each time anyone asked me, hey Fred, where are you going to work? I would simply reply “Globacom”  and some will ask do you know anyone there? I would say No and the very curious once will then ask; so how do you intend to get a job there when you actually know no one there? My reply was always, time will tell.

Note that at this point, I had no idea whatsoever how to go about getting the job, it was only a dream, but a dream so powerful that I actually saw myself in the Globacom colours, working happily. During this period, I followed the company’s activities closely but what was lacking is that I was yet to take action. After completing my national youth service in August 2003, I had no job, I joined thousands (if not millions) of graduates in the over saturated job market, this was when it dawned on me to either innovate or die!
