One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined Your car and sent us to the hospital!’ This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

So… Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Quite a number of people have challenges when it comes to developing or improving their self-confidence and this is especially true for folks who had awful experiences while growing up – the late MJ’s story comes to mind. People with good self esteem usually have an acceptable level of confidence, which directly influences their lives positively.

Notwithstanding, all hope is not lost if you are someone who needs to improve their self-confidence. Contrary to what most people think, there is nothing special to it, with some level of discipline and dedication, you can begin the process right away.

Here are 9 ways to develop your self confidence;

It is all about you, it starts and ends with you!

1. Love you

Start by appreciating you! No matter your experience or background, you must understand that you are special and therefore have very great potentials that can add value to humanity. Love and accept yourself as you are. Acknowledge your weaknesses and work on them continually – no one is perfect.

2. Believe you

Having a 100% belief  in your abilities will help develop your self-confidence. You must trust your instincts most of the time, even if you are wrong sometimes, you must understand that it is part of the learning process.

3. Know you

Being able to understand your thoughts, emotions, habits, belief and values will assist a lot. Become a master of you, such that external influences find it had to penetrate. If you achieve this then be rest assured that your self confidence can only but sour.

4. Picture you

Have clear pictures (vision and mission) of what you want to achieve in life. Clarity is important if you have to make headway in life and pictures give great clarity. If you can see what you want to be or have in a clear image, you will be motivated to work towards it.

5. Discipline you

Discipline is a subject matter that has no ending; it is something that you must do constantly. Remember, what the great Apostle Paul said, “I die daily”. You have to make it a point of duty to discipline yourself always. Self-discipline is about how we make sure that our goals and vision are translated in action and achieved. We need self discipline to make sure that we do not back-out just because of simple disappointments and setbacks.

6. Develop you

Grab and read great literatures. If you ask me, I would recommend an all time classic. Awaken the Giant within by Anthony Robbins. The great thing about reading great books is that you get to leverage on other people’s experiences and mistakes to make yourself better.

7. Care for you

This has to do with eating properly – avoid junk foods, get adequate rest, do your daily exercises, become more health conscious etc. You just have to ensure you take care of yourself and this will definitely help you through the process of developing your self confidence.

8. Trust you

If you are someone who needs to improve their confidence, then you must believe in yourself. You need to trust that you can go through the process and attain the desired results.

9. It’s all up to you

Honestly, no one else can decide for you. If you want to develop your self-confidence then you have to make a decision to start NOW! The choice is yours.

You may not get the results you expect immediately, even if you follow all 9 ways to develop your self confidence, but don’t feel discouraged because it is actually an ongoing process, and you will certainly have great results with time!

Being a life coach is something that has always fascinated me because I am 100% sure that anyone who can master herself will almost be a master in whatever she does. I am glad that this opportunity is coming to us in Nigeria, it will be the 1st time I am attending a course on Coaching.

Happy Birthday to Me!!! Exactly 31 years ago, I was born into a modest, loving family at Kiri-Kiri Town, Lagos, Nigeria from then on I have lived my life with one purpose and that is doing good and adding continuous value . So many people have helped shape my life and thought process – too numerous to mention, starting with the greatest parents on earth who gave me a solid foundation, my wonderful wife, siblings, children, relatives, friends, inspiring mentors particularly Robert Butwin, the team at Natureline Solutions and FATE Foundation, not forgetting all my friends and acquaintances on the various social media networks. Words are inadequate to express how grateful I am, I will sum it up in these words – Thank You.

I honestly feel blessed, so much has happened in my few years on earth. I am excited that I have grown and learnt so much, I have started so many business and failed (I have just started a new business recently, the business I’m in clearly may not be for you, but who do you know that is ambitious, money motivated and would be excited about the idea of adding more cash flow to their lives? I will be glad if you can connect them to me.) I am humbled to be a leader to a few, I  am particularly grateful for the wonderful family God gave me.  My life is sold out to one cause and that is making a change in my little sphere and ultimately leaving my footsteps in the sands of time, I have decided I won’t be one of those who die unsung. Haven’t you heard these words; the graveyard is the wealthiest place? Come to think of it, isn’t it true? Can you imagine how many people have died with their great dreams and plans because of fear?

I have consciously chosen to be one of those Nigerians committed to being different, and prove to the outside world that despite the corruption, advancement fee fraud (419), insecurity, injustice, crime, under-development, criminal enrichment of a few, religious bigotry etc. there are still good, great, genuine, wonderful and enterprising people here – it will not be an easy task but attainable. Nigeria will be great again! Start playing a role in your little way.

My sincere wish for you on this very special day of mine is that you throw off the bowlines, sail away from the sail harbor. Catch the trade winds…. Explore….. Dream…. Discover….. Its time to live the life you deserve and start doing things you thought were impossible.

A couple of weeks ago, I had exactly the same issue Chris Brogan had, I tried to log into gmail account and was told it had been suspended temporarily, that I needed to verify my account, as soon as I entered the code google sent to my mobile phone, my account was released. I thought my account was now completely safe, and did not bother to change my password.

Boy, was wrong I? I just found out that my account has been tampered with by some dude from China. How did I know? I simple looked at the footer of gmail account;

Clicked on details and bam! This came up;

Look closely my regular IP address is Nigeria (41.221.167.46) and I last accessed my account on the 5th of April. In the middle, is another ip address China (115.49.93.65) how did I get to China? When in fact I travelled to my home town for my GrandMa’s funeral, she passed on earlier this month (R.I.P. Mama). If you notice the IP address I am currently browsing from is completely different because it’s a cyber cafe, somewhere in Anambra state, Nigeria.

I am indeed saddened by this event and why? This guy(s) sent some poorly written scam/phishing mail to all my contacts and that is embarrassing. This is the poorly written mail sent out from my account;

I could not have written this, as a marketer I know too well that the above words can only get a fool to buy from me. I have reported the issue to Google and I hope they note this site that is spamming people all over the world.

I want to use this opportunity to inform everyone on my contact who gets to read this post, that I did not send that mail and I ll never send out such mails, considering my brand and person.

Please if you use gmail, change your password(s) immediately. I have changed mine and this time I mixed it properly with words, numbers and symbols, here is a sample; 5FLsivtrHng*3HiEedl - I hope this makes the account safe for a while?

Finally, let us all form the habit of changing our passwords frequently.

Resistance To Changes

We all go through one form of transformation or the other, whether it is work or relationship related. In fact, even companies experience occasional organizational change(s) that can affect the life or career of their employees either positively or negatively.

As mentioned earlier, everyone can and will experience challenges in life, so whether you like it or not you will need to prepare yourself for this, rather than having resistance to change. Keep in mind that life itself is a constant change, there is nothing permanent in life. Just like the fact, that we will all grow old and our appearances change, and there is nothing we can do to stop it from happening.

What you can do to manage change in your life is to turn it into another opportunity, as resistance to change will not be good for you and for everyone around you, especially if you continue to resist the fact of life. Although, it is the human instinct to resist change, not because we do not understand change or why it happens but because we are afraid to start all over again, if such change does not work out in our favour.

Resistance to Changes

Fear is the reason why most individual are resistance to change. If you are in a middle of a difficult and painful transition in your relationship or work life, then all you have to do is to analyze your situation and understand how you feel. Reacting negatively or defensively will not help you at all; rather it could even make things worse.

We must accept that change is part of life and it is most times good for us. It is pertinent to note, resistance can be healthy especially if you do not react in a negative way. How? It’s because, change actually forces you to think about your life and clarify matters that you may have neglected in the past, as you routinely go about your life. It may even broaden your understanding as to why you have become resistant to change.

So instead of thinking or finding different ways to resist the change, why don’t you find a way to help reduce the impact of change in your life and who knows it might be a step forward to a better life. Remember, life is too short so do not waste it by struggling to fight change, because you will never win. Go out and conquer your fear, there is nothing to be afraid, change will happen to every one of us in our lifetime.
